Primary research interests include the utilization of epidemiologic methods to investigate the distribution and determinants of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and sexually transmitted infections among disenfranchised and hidden populations. Of particular interest is the examination of health disparities relating to infectious diseases, risk behaviors, and access to care among different social and racial/ethnic groups. Lastly, the eventual goal is the development of a comprehensive research agenda which incorporates a variety of research aspects (e.g., surveillance methods, natural history, risk behaviors, prevention interventions, care) of HIV and other infectious agents.
