Research and Professional Experience

As a rehabilitation psychologist, my research has focused on theories and projects that have the potential to improve function and reduce disability for persons with chronic illness and impairments. Specific research projects have focused on:

*Factors that influence the development of chronic pain in persons with occupational musculoskeletal injuries, rheumatic disease, spinal cord injury or limb loss

*The development of cognitive-behavioral and self-management interventions that prevent the development of, or provide treatment for, pain associated with disability

*Factors that influence rehabilitation outcomes specifically the role of positive psychological variables -denial, positive coping, hope and spirituality

Keywords
