Ingrid Kohlstadt M.D., M.P.H. is a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition and an Associate, Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Dr. Kohlstadt graduated from Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1993, and also has a Masters Degree in Public Health (M.P.H.). She earned her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biochemistry (1989) both at the University of Maryland and as an international scholar in Tuebingen, Germany. She is Board Certified in Nutrition and also Board Certified in Preventive Medicine, and is a member in good standing of the Intersociety Professional Nutrition Education Consortium (IPNEC).
Dr. Kohlstadt worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United States Department of Agriculture, the Food and Drug Administration, the Johns Hopkins Weight Management Center, as the director of a local health department, and as a station doctor for the United States Antarctic Program. Dr. Kohlstadt also brought western medicine to indigenous peoples of the Americas, Central Asia, and Africa while working with organizations including Doctors Without Borders and Project Hope.
She has edited and authored a medical reference text book for physicians, clinicians, and medical students entitled: Scientific Evidence for Musculoskeletal, Bariatric, and Sports Nutrition published in January 2006 by Taylor Francis, and a new medical textbook entitled: Food and Nutrients in Disease Management (CRC Press January 2009).
Dr. Kohlstadt is currently employed as at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the Office of the Commissioner / Office of Pediatric Therapeutics as a Commissioner's Fellow.
