Tenure-Track Associate Professor/Professor Department of Epidemiology
The Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health invites applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor/Professor position with interests and experience in the epidemiology of malaria, particularly in the use of mathematical models as applied to malaria transmission and control.
The successful candidate will work closely in partnership with faculty engaged in malaria research within the Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute and the Department of Epidemiology. The candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program and serve as a leader for new research initiatives. Responsibilities will include teaching advanced epidemiological methods and modeling courses and advising graduate students.
The Department of Epidemiology is one of the oldest and largest departments of epidemiology in the world, with over 150 doctoral and masters students and a diverse research program directed by more than 80 faculty members. The Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute was founded in 2001 as a state-of-the-art malaria research facility and has 19 full-time faculty dedicated to the search for medical and scientific breakthroughs in malaria prevention and treatment by advancing basic science along every stage of the malaria parasite lifecycle. The Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions encompass a highly interactive, interdisciplinary environment with substantial opportunities for collaborations.
Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, ecology, or a related field, have experience in mathematical modeling of malaria transmission and/or control, possess excellent written and communication skills as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and presentations at professional meetings, and demonstrate the potential to establish and maintain external funding. Rank will be commensurate with experience and academic achievement.
