Research and Professional Experience

Dr. Astone is a member of the core faculty at the Center for Adolescent Health where she leads the work group on secondary data analysis on the transition to adulthood. Her primary interests include social demography, sociology, and the transition to adulthood. She is a sociologist by academic training but has focused on public health for most of her career.

Dr. Astone is currently a member of the National Academy of Sciences Committee on Adolescent Health and Development, as well as a member of the National Academy of Sciences Panel on Transitions to Adulthood in Developing Countries. An expert in both demographic and statistical approaches to longitudinal data analysis, she joined the Center in 2000.
