Research and Professional Experience

Research interests include epidemiologic and statistical methods for cohort studies, evaluation of therapies in observational studies, epidemiology and pathogenesis of HIV/AIDS, modeling of disease biomarkers, and data management and statistical coordinating centers.

Dr. Gange is principal investigator of the data management and analysis center for the Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS), a nationwide cohort study of HIV-infected women. Beginning in 2006, he has been the Epidemiology/Biostatistics Core Director for the North American AIDS Cohort Collaboration of Research and Design (NA-ACCORD), an International Epidemiologic Databases to Evaluate AIDS (IEDEA) initiative sponsored by NIAID. He also is a co-investigator for the Center for the Analysis and Management of the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study (MACS), the Johns Hopkins HIV Clinical Cohort Study, and the Baltimore-based ALIVE Study, in addition to collaborating with others across the School.
