Research and Professional Experience

Dr. Boyd is an assistant professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the Department of Medicine,Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, and is a core faculty member at the Johns Hopkins Center on Aging and Health and the Roger C. Lipitz Center for Integrated Health Care. Dr. Boyd is jointly appointed in the Department of Health Policy and Management. Dr. Boyd is a Robert Wood Johnson Physician Faculty Scholar. She is trained in internal medicine, geriatric medicine and epidemiology. Dr. Boyd’s main interests include the clinical care of comorbid chronically ill and frail older adults both chronically and during acute illness such as hospitalization. Current projects include 1) Treatment Burden Among Older adults with Multimorbidity, 2) Treatment Burden Among Older Adults with Diabetes and Multimorbidity, 3) The Importance of Competing Risks in Decision-Making for the elderly, and 4) The effects of Guided Care on Quality of Care, 5) Imporving Clinical Pratice Guidelines for the elderly.
