Research and Professional Experience

I am Research and Policy Director at the Center for a Livable Future at JHSPH. I am interested in policy and social science research on themes relevant to understanding and changing our food systems, including addressing disparities and promoting environmental sustainability. Particular interests include: food and climate change; public health and agricultural policy (especially the Farm Bill); and access to sustainably produced food. I am committed to the importance of research translation. I co-lead the American Public Health Association's cross-section Food and Environment Working Group, which works to build the profile of food system and public health issues within the APHA, the public health field, and beyond. I am also interested in policy research on occupational injury and illness, with particular focus on surveillance/underreporting, disparities, and federal policy. I have worked in public health research, policy and practice for nearly 20 years.
