Research and Professional Experience

I am working on genetic and non-genetic risk factors for kidney disease and related conditions, as well as on kidney disease as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Genetic projects include both candidate gene and genome-wide association approaches. I am currently participating in several large consortia of cohort studies with genome-wide association data.

Keywords

genetic epidemiology, chronic kidney disease, genome-wide association studies, cardiovascular epidemiology

Honors and Awards

2009 Jeremiah and Rose Stamler Research Award for New Investigators, American Heart Association 2007-2009 Fellowship, The German Research Foundation 1998-2001 German National Academic Foundation Scholar
