Research and Professional Experience

My primary research interest is exploring the local implementation of federal policy relevant to the conduct of human subject research. In particular I am interested in the local review of human subject research and informed consent. On the former, I am currently working on projects related to the ethical quality of IRB review and communication between IRBs and Data Monitoring Committees. On the latter I am working with a multi-disciplinary team on a project related to the introduction of an experimental epigenetic test which includes a component that will test the effectiveness of an internvetion meant to improve the consent process. I am also involved in a project that has as its goal, the development of training for medical residents regarding the ethics of everyday medical practice.

Keywords

Research ethics; local implementation of federal policy relevant to human subject research; HIV/AIDS policy; qualitative research methods.
